Centre at the Forks

Join Toronto-based artist David Constantino Salazar and London-based artist Kerri Jerome of Clayworx: Ceramic Arts Learning Centre for an insightful discussion centered around David’s expansive installation, Forever (Bird-Botanicals).

Through this engaging conversation, the artists will share their personal experiences working with clay, focusing on the innovative approaches that inform David Constantino Salazar's practice in large-scale installation.

David Constantino Salazar is a Toronto-based, Ecuadorian-Canadian sculptor whose practice focuses on clay hand modelling, bronze casting, and ceramic firing. He represented Canada at the International Biennial of Asuncion (Paraguay), and focused his Master's research on how and why human experiences are communicated through animal metaphors. Salazar oversees the Bronze Foundry at OCAD University, mentoring artists in bronze casting and conceptual development.

Kerri Jerome’s work is inspired by nature and the organic properties and materiality of the clay.  Motivated by a lifetime of environmental activism, she uses sgraffito, painting and sculpture to express the importance of stewardship in earthly preservation.  Kerri’s post-secondary education in painting and illustration informs her work in clay today. She teaches both hand building and wheel classes at London's Clayworx: Ceramic Arts Learning Centre. Her work has been presented in juried shows and festivals throughout Ontario.

This program is free, and all are welcome to attend. Donations upon admission are graciously accepted. Registration is required.
