Join us for a free, drop-in screening of Detropia, a film by Detroit-area native Heidi Ewing and Rachel Grady that chronicles the lives of several Detroiters trying to make sense of what is happening in their city.
About the film:
Detropia is a cinematic tapestry of a city and its people who refuse to leave the building, even as the flames rise around them. Through the lives of a blues bar owner, a young blogger, an auto union representative, and a group of emerging artists, the film forms an unlikely chorus that reflects both a city, and a country, in a moment of deep soul-searching, desperate for a new identity. Sculpted as a dreamlike collage, Detropia captures a grand city teetering on the brink of dissolution.
About the London Architecture Series:
Presented in partnership with the London Society of Architects, the London Architecture Series is a seasonal program of free events that explore the practice of architecture in our region and across Canada. Each session invites attendees to engage with architects, designers, and thinkers who shape our built environment, offering fresh perspectives on design, sustainability, and community. Whether you’re a professional, student, or simply curious, this series is a welcoming space to learn, connect, and be inspired.
