Experience Doors Open London at the Museum

Museum London invites the London community to celebrate Doors Open London weekend with a day of art, history, and nature.
During regular Museum hours, visitors can experience Amanda McCavour’s Double Shadow, a striking installation of suspended embroidered botanical forms that transforms Museum London’s Atrium. On Saturday, September 19, hear directly from the Toronto-based artist as she shares the ideas and techniques behind her work, then take part in a drop-in creative workshop in our Studio. Open to all ages and abilities, no experience is necessary and all materials are provided.
Later, gather outdoors for our annual Corn Roast with artist, writer, activist, and gardener Ron Benner, celebrating the 21st anniversary of his site-specific garden installation, As the Crow Flies. Hear Elder Mary Lou Smoke speak about the significance of corn in Indigenous culture, then enjoy freshly roasted corn from Benner’s Maiz Barbacoa wagon and live music by Frank Ridsdale.

Nuit Blanche London
On Saturday, September 19, Museum London will be open late until 11:00 PM to mark Nuit Blanche London, giving visitors an opportunity to experience Amanda McCavour’s Double Shadow after hours.
Visitors are also invited to spend time in our Centre at the Forks, where Jessica Karuhanga’s Moon in the 12th House (2017) will screen continuously throughout the evening. The work explores intuitive movement, connection, and shared experience, reflecting on themes of growth, memory, family, and community through the perspectives of Black women.
Outside on the Front Lawn, experience The Hug, a large-scale inflatable sculpture by Mexican-Canadian designer Carlos Portillo. By transforming a simple embrace into a monumental public artwork, Portillo’s installation invites reflection on care, connection, and our relationship with the natural and built environments.
Sunday, September 20
On Sunday, September 20, join us between 11:00 AM and 4:00 PM for special guided tours of our permanent collection exhibition All Around Me, All Around You. Led by Museum London’s knowledgeable tour guides, these informal, drop-in tours offer the unique chance to explore the exhibition in new ways, ask questions, and converse in small groups.
