Current Opportunities

Museum London seeks a skilled individual to oversee the coordination and delivery of ML Kids Summer Camp programming for children aged 6-12. The Summer Camp Coordinator will be responsible for managing camp administration and operations, providing support to the Summer Camp Artist Educators, Counsellors, and Studio Assistants, and ensuring smooth program delivery. Reporting to the Curator of Engagement & Outreach, the Coordinator will assist with arranging visiting artist presentations, Friday lunch offerings, and studio assistant communications.

Scope of Work

  • Assisting the Artist Educator and Camp Counselors in planning and delivering art activities and instruction, ensuring that the activities are age-appropriate and engaging.
  • Coordinate break schedules for the Artist Educator, Camp Counselors, and Studio Assistants
  • Supervise and support staff and campers both on and off-site, ensuring the physical and emotional safety of all campers and staff.
  • Support the personal growth and behavioral management of campers, to encourage the development of interpersonal skills, and a positive, inclusive, camp culture where all participants feel safe, respected, and valued.
  • Oversee administrative tasks such as tracking attendance and ensuring that campers’ allergies or medical conditions are noted and photo permissions are followed.
  • Assist in camp operations that include the preparation and organization of art materials and supplies, as well as organizing equipment to facilitate games and activities.
  • Review and process registration data, respond to inquiries, and maintain proactive communication with parents and caregivers.
  • Implement and uphold safety protocols, emergency procedures, and risk-management practices.
  • Lead weekly fire drills to ensure that all camp staff are prepared to respond effectively.
  • Coordinate camp logistics related to facility use, equipment needs, and space preparation.
  • Plan and oversee special projects such as theme days and end-of-week celebrations, enhancing the program.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records, including registration documents, attendance, incident, and accident reports.

    Qualifications

    • Experience working with children and youth (camp, school, tutoring, or babysitting).
    • Previous experience in program coordination or camp management is an asset.
    • Strong creativity and enthusiasm for visual arts and other creative practices.
    • An interest in regional history and museum engagement.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Adaptability and problem-solving skills.
    • The ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
    • Strong organizational, project management, and time management skills.
    • Ability to create an atmosphere that is engaging, energetic, participatory, and inclusive.
    • Demonstrated leadership skills, motivating and supporting team members.
    • Preference will be given to applicants who have completed some post-secondary education.

    Eligibility

    Eligible applicants must be 15–30 years old at the start of employment, be Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or individuals with refugee protection, and have a valid Social Insurance Number and legal authorization to work in Canada. The successful candidate will be required to complete the following certifications:

    • First Aid and CPR Class C.
    • High 5 training in Principles of Healthy Child Development.
    • Police Vulnerable Sector Check.

    Hours

    • Full-time, seasonal contract spanning the duration of Summer Camp: June 29 to August 28, 2026; 35 hours/week, with a schedule that is normally Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

    Location

    • This is an existing, in-person position based in London, Ontario.

    Compensation

    • $18.00/hour

    Museum London seeks two (2) Summer Camp Counsellors to assist the Artist Educator with the delivery of ML Kids Summer Camp programming for children aged 6-12. Reporting to the Summer Camp Coordinator and under the supervision of the Curator of Engagement & Outreach, Camp Counsellors will assist with the management and supervision of campers. Counsellors will aid in the planning and delivery of day-to-day camp activities that support children and youth through high-quality arts and cultural programming, ensuring that camps are safe, inclusive, and meet the needs of diverse learners, promoting creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and fun!

    Scope of Work

    • Inspire creativity and confidence, encouraging campers to express themselves creatively through experimentation and skill development.
    • Supervise and support campers both on and off-site, ensuring the physical and emotional safety of all campers.
    • Support the personal growth and behavioral management of campers, to encourage the development of interpersonal skills, and a positive, inclusive, camp culture where all participants feel safe, respected, and valued.
    • Assist in camp operations that include the preparation and organization of art materials and supplies, as well as organizing equipment to facilitate games and activities both onsite and offsite.
    • Assist in camp administration during the Before and After Care programs. The Counsellors are the first point of contact for drop off and pick up and oversee administrative tasks such as taking attendance and ensuring that campers’ allergies or medical conditions are noted.
