The Polaris Music Prize is a not-for-profit organization that annually honours and rewards artists who produce Canadian music albums of distinction. A select panel of music critics judge and award the Prize without regard to musical genre or commercial popularity.
Each year Polaris' expert jury of broadcasters, bloggers, programmers, and other media authorities convene to discuss music they believe merits Polaris consideration. A series of jury votes establishes a 40-album Long List and then a 10-album Short List before a winning album, based on artistic merit, is determined at the Polaris Gala.
Polaris commissions curated limited edition silk-screen posters custom made to represent each album nominated for these Short Lists as well as for the designates of our Polaris Heritage Prize classic album hall of fame.
Included in this exhibition are the Polaris Posters representing almost every winning act since the prize was established in 2006 as well as select Heritage Prize posters.
Every Polaris Poster ever commissioned can be found at polarismusicprize.ca/posters.
