NOTE: in the event of rain, the event will take place inside the Museum at the same scheduled time.

After a hiatus of two years due to the pandemic, please join London artist, Ron Benner, at his photographic/garden installation, As The Crow Flies, on Sunday, August 21, 2022 for Maiz Barbacoa.

This annual community gathering features roasted corn on the cob with butter, salt, Mexican chili powder and fresh lime juice. Part sculpture, part installation, and part performance, this event will feature Benner's roving corn-roasting wagon, Maiz Barbacoa, commissioned by Toronto's inaugural Scotiabank Nuit Blanche in 2006. Maiz Barbacoa includes images of corn roasters from around the world and the names of corn in over 50 languages.

Dan and Mary Lou Smoke will open the corn roast and give thanks to the maize plant. This event will feature the live music of Frank Ridsdale and celebrate the Embassy Cultural House's (ECH) catalogue, Pandemic Gardens: Resilience Through Nature. This catalogue highlights work from the ECH's online exhibition organized by Ron Benner and Rachel MacGillivray, Fredericton, NB, with the assistance of Jamelie Hassan, Olivia Mossuto and JoAnna Weil.
