A Personal 1812: Exhibition Tour by Laurence Grant

Get up close and personal with A Personal 1812. Join guest curator Laurence Grant for a first-hand account of the exhibition and learn more about the War of 1812 from the chronicles of five individuals: business woman Sally Ainse, prisoners of war Lydia Bacon and Mahlon Burwell, child William Pearce, and Richard Pierpoint, a member of the Coloured Corps of Upper Canada. This unique exhibition features objects from various collections with work by contemporary artists from the Museum's collection. Following the tour, join us for refreshments to celebrate this exhibition.
Reception and Tour of Kim Ondaatje with the Artist

Artist Kim Ondaatje's exhibition opens with an afternoon of refreshments and a rare opportunity to hear the artist speak first-hand about her work. With production spanning decades, viewers are privy to Ondaatje's oeuvre dealing with place, both exterior and interior. This is a timely foray into notions of geography and place, home and surroundings. Following the tour, we are pleased to offer refreshments.

After the tour, Ron Benner roasts corn for all at his garden installation As the Crow Flies. Part sculpture, part installation and part performance, the event will feature Benner's roving corn-roasting wagon Maiz Barbacoa. The site-specific piece features a pond, garden and corn plants surrounded by black and white laminated photographs that trace the militarization of food and society, as well as themes of activism, environmentalism and global food politics. Musician Frank Ridsdale will entertain us with his resolute songs of political misdemeanours covering a wide geographical range from the Port Stanley harbour to Latin American revolutionary songs.
Culture Days at Museum London!

In celebration of our exhibition ZINES, we are pleased to host a zine fair with London artists sharing their wares and selling their publications. Zines are publications that are mainly self-published, in small editions, hand-made, and can be on any theme. Used book sellers from downtown London will also offer books on art and local history as well as a selection of historical zines, while Museum London opens their archives to sell a wide range of exhibition publications both old and new. The afternoon includes drop-in activities such as button-making, book binding and zine creation.

Take a peek behind the scenes. Experience a guided tour through the Museum's material culture vault where we store more than 45,000 artifacts which reflect the history of the City of London. Tours begin on the hour.
