This series of tours, films and talks on Thursdays is inspired by Carey Newman’s Witness Blanket installation. 

See this 40-foot memorial comprised of over 800 objects collected from residential school sites. Learn about master carver Carey Newman and his year long journey creating the Witness Blanket. View films and join in discussions about the residential school legacy in Canada and ongoing efforts towards reconciliation.

June 15: Our cultural interpreter will introduce visitors to the Witness Blanket installation. At 7:30 there will be a screening of "Our Voices, Our Stories," a film by Barbara Cranmer documenting BC’s Namgis Community as they demolish the Alert Bay residential school. 

June 22: Jerry White, Director of the UWO Aboriginal Policy Research Consortium, discusses the Myths and Realities of Aboriginal Conditions.

June 29: “We Were Children” NFB film about the impact of Canadian residential schools on two children, Lyna Hart and Glen Anaquod, from their point of view.

July 6: Margaret Buist, Indigenous and Northern Affairs and Al Day, N’Amerind Friendship Centre talk about reconciliation from national and local perspectives.
